Toys you can take with you!

Since it's Masturbation May, I thought I'd focus on the clit for today's toy review post, since my last post was all about G-Spot stimulation.

Miniature rechargeable clitoral vibratorI am a big fan of portable toys. In fact, I bought my current handbag (the Lux Deville one shown briefly in the video) because I read an article where someone mentioned you could fit a Hitachi Magic Wand in it! (You can!) Buying my Lelo Nea really changed my vibrator game- it was the perfect replacement for years of AA battery guzzling silver bullet vibes that would break after only 2 or 3 months of use. At $90, the Nea ain't cheap, but it's gorgeous, plugs right into the wall for rechargeable fun, and is covered by a 1 year warranty against defects (plus a subsequent 10 year warranty that will give you 50% off your next Lelo purchase if it breaks. Not too shabby.) It's worth it, in my opinion. I almost always need a vibrator to have a clitoral orgasm and this toy is so travel-friendly (it's tiny, and you can lock the buttons) that I actually got one for my bedroom and one for my purse, so I always have it handy for sleepovers or other occasions I might need it for. ;)

USB rechargeable luxury massager is packed with power, whisper quiet and comes with 3 speeds & 4 patterns to choose from.Powerful vibe, whisper-quiet waterproof massager made from ABS plastic with simple push button control and 90-minute rapid recharge. I put together this video of purse-sized vibes to show you some different options in addition to the Nea. If you're a fan of super intense stimulation, you may prefer the We-Vibe Tango, which is almost as strong as the Hitachi Magic Wand, in a waterproof, lipstick-sized package! If discretion is a must, I recommend the Kandi Kisses from Omibodi- it looks just like a (slightly bigger than average) lipstick with a protective cap, is made from hypoallergenic silicone, and it comes with a USB charger you can plug right into your laptop! See the toys in action in the video below, then head on over to EdenFantasys.com to purchase your favorite! (School For Scandal Readers get a 15% discount when they use code TZZ).

The G Spot is Alive! Long Live The G-Spot.

Ok, I am sick of scientists claiming the G Spot doesn't exist. I'M PRETTY SURE I HAVE ONE, OK?

The thing is, G spot sensitivity can vary quite dramatically from person to person. Some people just don't get a lot of sensation there, and that's ok too. However, in some cases finding your G-spot might just be a question of getting the right kind of stimulation. A good rule of thumb is picking a toy made from a firm, or even hard, body safe material like glass, metal, wood, or silicone, that has a prounounced curve at the tip. Some folks like toys with tapered tips, I personally prefer something with a bulbous head. Hard, curved toys can offer super intense pressure that is guaranteed to help you find your G-spot (and maybe even teach you how to squirt!) if you are in doubt.

Sooooo, I put together this video featuring four of my favorite G-Spot toys to help you pick the right toy for yourself! (Also: I realize in the video I talk about "women" in the context of the G-spot but I want to rectify that by saying that people of all genders have G-spots, and that these toys work great for P-spot play, too!)

You can purchase all of the toys featured in the video at EdenFantasys, awesome retailer of vibrators, dildos, and other fine sex toys! School For Scandal readers get an extra 15% off all purchases when you enter code TZZ at checkout!

MsBehaved+School For Scandal= Lelo “Flickering Touch” Massage Candle Giveaway

Dearest Readers,

This is what a sex + beauty editor looks like.
This past week I visited Austin (update coming soon!) and met with the lovely Sarah Saxon, editor of MsBehaved.com. I had already contributed a few pieces to the site, and after some discussion, I decided to take on the role of sex and beauty editor at Msbehaved! Expect lots of awesome content in coming weeks, which I will also post at School for Scandal! Need help picking out your first vibrator or the perfect lipstick to go with a classic men’s suit? Email the sex and beauty questions you’ve always been afraid to ask to bianca@msbehaved.com. Also, we are looking for more writers, photographers, artists and so forth to contribute content to the site, so email myself or sarah@msbehaved.com if you'd like to see your work published. We are also looking for movers and shakers of all genders and genres to profile on the site.

In honor of this development, I am partnering with MsBehaved.com to give away a product that’s both sexy and beautiful: a Black Pepper & Pomegranate scented “Flickering Touch” Massage Candle from Swedish Luxury Sex Toy Company Lelo ($29.99 value). Those of you who have tried Lelo’s vibrators know that they are extraordinary, and their body care line is equally decadent and sensual. Of course, a $30 candle is not in everyone’s budget, so we’re giving you the chance to try this amazing product for free!

Lelo’s “Flickering Touch” Massage Candle comes in an elegant and discreet black glass canister with a removable lid for storage. This 5.3oz candle can burn for up to 36 hours, so you’ll enjoy using it over and over again! Light the candle, and the skin-conditioning blend of natural soy wax, shea butter, and apricot kernel oil will melt into a smooth, long-lasting massage oil that absorbs into the skin without feeling waxy or greasy. Lelo says the Black Pepper & Pomegranate scent is “Fresh, fruity and a little bit racy; turn up the heat with the green scent of pomegranate underscored by an aromatic base note of black pepper.” If you haven’t tried a massage candle before, prepare to be impressed!

So how can you win this insanely luxurious candle? Visit the giveaway widget on the MsBehaved Facebook page, and you will have the opportunity to enter by liking MsBehaved and School For Scandal on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and reposting articles from either site to Facebook and Twitter. (You can still enter even if you've already liked us!) You can enter every day until 5/31, the winner will be selected at random and announced on June 1st.

XO!
Bianca

Hick Hop: The Bizarre but Inevitable Crossover of Hip Hop and Country

It was about a year ago that I started to notice the subtle, but noticeable ways that Country music was influencing Hip Hop. Ke$ha's yodeling on Tik Tok, for example. (If you choose to consider Ke$ha a rapper, that is. I love Ke$ha's unapologetic scuzziness and willingness to mock herself, but that's another post in itself.) Lupe Fiasco's "Go Go Gadget Flow," which is a Chicago anthem that knocks Kanye's "Home Coming" on it's ear (seriously- why was this the train Kanye had Chris Martin guest on?), that has a distinctly...dueling banjos kind of vibe.

I can't say this is exactly a trend sweeping the genre...but it's there. (If you know of any other country influenced hip hop tracks, or cuts that sample country songs, please link me!)

I sent the track to my best friend Shosh who has a not-so-secret thing for new country, and she responded in kind, with Jason Aldean's #1 hit "Dirt Road Anthem," which indeed features the country music star rapping.

A little digging revealed, that this is actually A THING in Country music, affectionally dubbed "Hick Hop."

Side note: There's actually an established trend of crossover between Country music and Soul/R&B that dates as far back as the 1960s. So the inevitable cross-pollination of Country and Hip Hop doesn't come as a huge surprise to me.

Country and Hip Hop are not that different in some respects (and Wyclef Jean agrees with me!) They're both sort of niche genres that emerged from the hardscrabble lives of working class whites and black people, respectively. Bear in mind that the mainstream acceptability of both of these genres is a fairly recent phenomenon. Hip Hop (with the exception of "conscious hip hop" like Arrested Development's "Tennesee" that crossed over to Alternative stations) and Country alike were both considerable untouchable genres by middle class white folks in the 1990s (if I had a nickle for every time I heard "I like all kinds of music except for country and rap" back then), perhaps because middle class white folks couldn't relate to the struggles personified by the lyrics of these songs, and moreover, they didn't want to.Country was the corny domain of toothless truckers and bar floozies, hip hop was the music of scary gun-toting thugs. Shit's changed, obviously- everyone listens to hip hop now, and Dirty South rappers G-Side have intentionally courted crossover from indie rock fans by sampling Beach House and Tame Impala for their tracks. Johnny Cash's covers of Nine Inch Nails and Nick Cave songs made Country (well, classic country at least) cool again. (New Country remains, now as then, hopelessly dorky.)

It's easy to dismiss "Hick Hop" as another round of white artists appropriating black music ala Elvis in the 1950s, but I don't think it's as simple as that. Culture is fluid, and I find this type of musical crossover not only fascinating but cautiously optimistic as a way of understanding each other across cultural divides, especially when the exchange is mutual. What do you think, dear readers?
